Star Light, Star Bright

3 posts in one day must be a record for me, but I had to post this before I forgot it. Tonight, we were at Austin's parents for dinner. Before we left for home, Makayla saw the wishing star, so she made a wish and talked the whole ride home (30 min) about her wish. Our conversation went something like this:

Makayla: Star Light, Star Bright, First star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight. Mom, do you want to know what I wished for?
Me: Sure.
Makayla: I wished for a magic wand.
Me: Great, then you can clean the house for me.
Makayla: I would make a second magic wand with my magic wand so you could have one to clean the house.
Me: All right - that's just what I need!
Makayla: I would wish for it to be light all the time.
Me: then people would get tired because there wouldn't be night.
Makayla: I would wish that nobody would get tired ever.
Me: but you'd never see the stars if there was no night.
Makayla: I would wish that I was the wishing star. When people wanted to make a wish, they could knock on my door and I would come out. I know Hannah and Brynne would wish for butterflies or maybe diamonds.

Me: do you think magic is real or pretend? (I always like to know where she is coming from, make sure she isn't getting her hopes up too high.)
Makayla: Pretend?
Me: hmmm
Makayla: Next time I make a wish, I am going to wish that magic is real, then we can really have magic wands.
Me: sounds like a good idea to me.

This is just a snippet of the conversation that we had. It was quite comical to listen to and participate in.
