New Years Eve

Last night was a very uneventful New Year's Eve! We went to dinner at Golden Corral with Austin's family, and then we headed back to his parents house to play games and hang out. We played Cranium - Girls against Boys, and, of course, the girls won. The boys will say it was because they were watching the football game instead of playing, but that is just an excuse! When the game was over, they watched "The Office" and Jason (my BIL) and I worked on a puzzle. Holden fell asleep at 7:30, Makayla lost it at 10:00, and Clara hung on the longest, until about 11:00. At about 11:51, we turned off "The Office," got our drinks for toasting, and then watched the ball drop. Holden woke up just after midnight, probably the fireworks that were being set off outside. It took us about 1/2 hour to get up and leave, I was beat! The worst part about the whole thing is that Holden woke up at 6:45 this morning and wanted to be up playing. So now, I'm beat and heading for a nap :)

I think, now that I am a Mom with little kids, the joy of staying up to watch the 'ball drop' has lost its thrill. I could have just as easily been in bed at a decent time so that I wouldn't be a zombie today when my kids are all happy and wanting to play.

We watched a movie together as a family and it happened to end right at 12 (we only knew because of the fireworks). I really could careless about some ball dropping, I need my sleep more! :)

The older I get the more some holidays reveal themselves as obvious excuses to consume a ton of alcohol. I think New Years has become one of those to me. lol

Sounds like a fun evening though! we played monopoly until I said I was giving away all my property, after and hour I was bored!

Happy New Year!

yeah, we just started staying up late the last few years because the older ones want to. So how can I go to bed at ten, when they're begging me to stay up until midnight? But, I won this year, and Marc stayed upwith them so I went to bed! Yeah, I was definitely the party pooper
