Fishing Day

Today was the annual fishing day at Salem Pond for the special ed classes in Utah County. The DNR comes and stocks the pond and helps the kids catch fish. If they aren't having any luck, they put a fish on the hook and then do a "bait and switch" with the pole and give the one with the fish to the kids to reel in. Albertson's catered lunch, and we all had a good time. Since we drove down separate from the bus, we stayed and played at the park for a while after everyone else left.

Clara and Makayla fishing

Clara fishing. I had to help her hold the pole because she just wanted to swing it around.

Makayla's fish she "caught." When the DNR guy took it off the hook, he gave it to her to hold, but it scared and she dropped it before I could take a picture. We had the guy that cleaned it for us hold it for them so we could get a picture.

While Makayla was playing on the playground, Holden was having fun just walking around. I followed him, pushing Clara in her wheelchair. He finally found the bark and was having a good time playing in the bark. He kept putting it in his mouth and then looking at me, waiting for me to say "no, no." He is such a tease!

While we were walking around, Holden found some ice that had been dumped out of the beverage bin. He was having fun walking through it because it crunched.

He also like to pick it up, but he would cry when his hands got too cold.
