First Stop - Blackfoot ID

So, getting out of town wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. The day before we were planning on leaving, we were hearing a noise in the engine, so we did some research and everything suggested getting the timing belt changed. We called around and found a mechanic that could get it done that day, so we took it to them. They finished it up right at closing, but they didn't like how it drove, so they wanted to check it out again in the morning. They told us, probably around 10:00 it would be done. It wasn't until 1:00 that we finally went and got it. Better safe than sorry, right? So much for leaving early in the morning :( When we got it back, I immediately started loading it up. We had bought a car top carrier to help keep our stuff in so the inside of the van wasn't so messy/full. When we started loading it, our roof rack snapped. It looks like this had happened before to the previous owners, because it was glued together. We bolted it and were set for packing.

We finally got on the road at 3:30 and headed up to Blackfoot, ID to see Grandma and Grandpa Wyrouck. They had tickets to a concert that night and had to leave 10 minutes after we got there. We had a much needed break from the stress of the day before driving all day the next day. Makayla and Clara loved their tire swing. We took Clara off to give the others a chance on the swing and she got MAD! She cried until we put her back on! She had a blast!

The next morning, we got up early, spent a bit of time with Grandma and Grandpa, and then got in the car for a long day. We drove all the way to Detroit Lakes, MN (about 18 hours). We were getting close, but it had been 2 years since I'd been there and I didn't remember exactly where their lake place was, so we were just going to sleep in the car (It was 3:30 local time), until it was late enough that we could call. Luck was on our side, though, because my dad got up to use the bathroom and decided to call and see where we were. I told him I was in town and wasn't quite sure where they lived. We were there in 5 minutes and in bed shortly thereafter!

Wow, what a fun trip. You guys sure did a lot. You are going to have some serious scrapping going on when you do this trip. Oh, so many memories. However, we are glad to have you back in town. We need to get together and hang out.
